Actor Sean Penn filed a $ten million defamation lawsuit against filmmaker Lee Daniels on Tuesday.

The complaint stems from a recent Hollywood Reporter interview in which Daniels recommended Terrence Howard, a star of his show “Empire,” gets treated like a “demon” for past domestic violence allegations but has performed “practically nothing various” than Penn or late actor Marlon Brando.

Daniels, who directed films such as “Precious” and “The Butler,” added that Howard’s therapy relative to Penn’s is “a sign of the time, of race, of where we are suitable now in America.”
